Horizontal Directional Drilling (HDD) is a steerable trenchless method used for installing underground utilities such as pipelines and cables with minimal surface disturbance.

It involves drilling a pilot borehole along a predetermined path, followed by enlarging the hole to accommodate the utility.

HDD is particularly useful in congested urban areas, near large bodies of water, and residential spaces where traditional drilling methods may not be feasible.

This method allows for the installation of various types of underground utilities without disturbing the surface above, making it an environmentally friendly option.
